Ames n’ Jas
We are two crazy kids who fell in love right out of high school and despite being complete opposites in the way we think & approach problems, somehow we manage to want almost exactly the same things out of life. Amy is a left brained, symmetry-seeking engineer with an affection for good food and entertaining. Jason is on the other end of the spectrum as a creative web designer who would spend every waking hour in front of a computer if he could. We both have a passion for modern architecture, good home design, constant learning and pursuing what we love.
Despite our dads’ best efforts to steer us away from construction (one a finish carpenter & one a tile/marble guy), we both enjoy getting our hands dirty with DIY renovation projects. Our first house was a 1970′s contemporary in Columbia, SC and now we’ve moved on up to an 80′s fixer in Atlanta, GA. We had planned to renovate most of this 1,100 sq. foot home ourselves and eventually add on to it, but after having our first baby, we quickly realized that we need more space – now! We’ve called in an architect and contractor to help us add on, so we thought it would be fun to share the process with you. Don’t worry… there will still be plenty of DIY along the way because we can’t let the professionals have all the fun.
The Pulley House
Is the affectionate nickname we’ve given to our very tiny, very vertical home. When we first saw pictures of the place on Zillow, we noticed ropes hanging down into the 1st floor living space. Those ropes were suspended by pulleys mounted to the ceiling on the third floor.

Hey you two busy people, you keep amazing us at every turn. Let me say this before I forget..Lol, Daddy figured out what the pulley system is for, furniture that can’t go up the staircase is what he thinks. Now he comes up with it! This is a neat site and thanks for making it. We are going to need one for Lil Bit Ranch, but we need a logo…got any ideas ?

You could have called it the unicycle house. I guess that doesn’t sound as good.
